Mobile test ranges are free-standing, portable bullet traps for test firing: they let gunsmiths, range owners and armed forces test weapons and ammunition without an indoor or outdoor range. The Hardox 500 body fragments the projectile and collects the debris. Two models: BC7-GM for calibres up to .308 Win at 4,500 J, and BC8-Shot for calibres up to .338 Lapua at 6,000 J. Both are rated for projectiles without a steel core. Made in the EU by Dependable Solutions s.r.o. and delivered from Lithuania. Part of our shooting range equipment range.
The two models compared
Both are Hardox 500 without coating, need no fixing to the floor and no building work. The difference is calibre, energy and size.
| Model | Calibres | Impact energy | Size | Weight | Use | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BC7-GM | up to .308 Win | 4,500 J | 110 × 52 × 100 cm | 137 kg | Close-quarters test firing; height adjustable | Empty debris tray about every 100 shots; strip down and remove lead about every 1,000 |
| BC8-Shot | up to .338 LP | 6,000 J | 100 × 180 × 170 cm | 467 kg | Test firing from a distance; free-standing | Same intervals: about 100 and 1,000 shots |
Rated for projectiles without a steel core. Indoors the unit must be connected to an exhaust through its 100 mm outlet; the fan is not included. For safe loading and unloading rather than test firing, use a clearing barrel instead.

The BC7-GM Mobile Close Quarters Shooting Test Range is a device designed for professional users such as riflemen, range owners and armed forces. It is designed to safely test weapons and ammunition without the need to locate an outdoor or indoor range. Due to its mobility, the range can be easily transported and installed in different locations according to current needs. The facility is capable of safely and repeatedly fragmenting projectiles to an impact energy of 4500 J without a steel core.
When used indoors, the device must be connected to an exhaust, the diameter of the exhaust outlet is 100mm. Maintenance: after approximately 100 shots, the bottom tray, where the fragments of bullets collect, must be emptied, and after 1000 shots, the device must be disassembled and the lead residue removed from the inner walls. The device is easy to disassemble and reassemble.
Test mobile shooting range BC8-Shot for calibers up to .338LP

Technical specifications:
- Dimensions: 100x180x170cm
- Weight: 467 kg
- Impact resistance: 6000 J
- Made of Hardox 500

The BC8-Shot mobile test range for shooting from a distance is a device designed for professional users such as riflemen, range owners and armed forces. It is designed to safely test weapons and ammunition without the need to locate an outdoor or indoor range. The facility is capable of safely and repeatedly fragmenting projectiles to an impact energy of 6000 J without a steel core. The device is designed in such a way that no structural modification or other additional preparation is required. The firing range is mobile and does not need to be fixed to the floor.
Maintenance: after about 100 rounds, the lower magazine, where fragments of bullets collect, must be cleaned, and after 1000 rounds, the device must be disassembled and the lead residue removed from the inner walls.
Who uses a mobile test range
Anywhere weapons or ammunition have to be fired for a check, but a permanent range is not available or too far away.
Gunsmiths
Function firing after repair or assembly, in the workshop instead of at a range.
Range owners
Safe test firing of weapons and ammunition on site.
Armed forces
Weapon and ammunition checks at a unit; the device is transported to wherever it is needed.
Ammunition testing
Repeated test shots into a body that fragments and collects every projectile.
Questions about mobile test ranges
What is a mobile test range?
A free-standing steel unit you fire into to test a weapon or ammunition without a permanent range. The Bullet Crusher BC7-GM and BC8-Shot have Hardox 500 bodies that fragment the projectile and collect the fragments in a tray. They need no building work and no fixing to the floor, so they can be moved between sites.
Which model do I need for .338 Lapua?
The BC8-Shot. It is rated for calibres up to .338 LP at 6,000 J and weighs 467 kg, with a 100 × 180 × 170 cm body for test firing from a distance. The smaller BC7-GM covers calibres up to .308 Win at 4,500 J and weighs 137 kg. Both are rated for projectiles without a steel core.
Can a mobile test range be used indoors?
Yes, if it is connected to an exhaust. Each unit has a 100 mm outlet for fume extraction; the fan is not included and is chosen with your building’s ventilation. Outdoors no extraction is needed. The BC7-GM is height adjustable, which helps fit it to a workshop bench line.
How much maintenance does it need?
Empty the bottom tray, where bullet fragments collect, about every 100 shots. About every 1,000 shots, take the unit apart and remove lead residue from the inner walls. Both models are designed to be easy to dismantle and reassemble for this.
