Playground Safety Tiles: Rubber Tiles to EN 1177

Rubber safety tiles for children’s playgrounds, sports areas, parks and pool decks. They absorb the impact of a fall and are tested to EN 1177:2018 for critical fall height: from 0.91 m at 30 mm up to 3.02 m at 110 mm. Two versions: SBR in 5 colours or an EPDM top layer in 24 colours, both on a black SBR shock-absorbing base, water-permeable and laid with plastic dowels. EU-manufactured (Latvia), delivered from Lithuania across the EU. Prices on request.

Which thickness for which fall height

Choose the thickness whose critical fall height is at least the free fall height of the play equipment above the surface. 90 to 110 mm are two-layer builds.

Critical fall height (HIC) per EN 1177:2018, from the manufacturer’s data sheets. Example: for equipment with a 2 m free fall height choose 70 mm (SBR 2.07 m, EPDM 2.14 m) or thicker.

SBR or EPDM tiles?

Both have the same shock-absorbing black SBR base, density and safety performance. The difference is the top layer.

Questions about playground tiles

What thickness of rubber tiles does a playground need?

It depends on the free fall height of the equipment. The tile’s critical fall height under EN 1177 must be at least that height: 40 mm covers about 1.2 to 1.3 m, 60 mm about 1.9 m, 70 mm about 2.1 m, and the two-layer 110 mm build up to 2.83 m (SBR) or 3.02 m (EPDM).

Should I choose SBR or EPDM playground tiles?

Both share the same shock-absorbing SBR base and safety performance. EPDM has a top layer in 24 colours that keeps its colour and appearance after years of intensive use, so it suits colour designs in public spaces. SBR comes in 5 colours. Ask for both in the quotation to compare.

How are rubber playground tiles installed?

The tiles are joined with plastic dowels. Formats are 503 × 503, 503 × 1006 and 1006 × 1006 mm, with a black SBR base under the coloured top layer. The surface is water-permeable, so rain drains through instead of standing on the playground.

Can the tiles stay outdoors in winter?

Yes. They are designed to withstand weather, water, frost and UV exposure, and they keep high slip resistance under wet conditions (DIN 51097, class C). They are used both outdoors and indoors.

How do I get a price and delivery time?

Prices are on request. Send the area in square metres, the free fall height of the equipment and the colours you want; we reply with the thickness, the quantity and a quotation. We deliver from Lithuania to Latvia, Estonia and across the EU.
